‘House of Fortune’ grabs award at Poppy Jasper filmfest

Iranian ‘House of Fortune’ wins at the Poppy Jasper Int'l Film Festival in the US.

Iranian short flick ‘House of Fortune’ has been awarded at the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival (PJIFF) in the US.

Adel Mashouri’s directorial experience grabbed the award for best short film at the Iran section of the 15th edition of the event.

‘House of Fortune’ is a minimal work with some unique lighting which has been performed by the actor using a lighter and a mobile phone.

The film that has been shot inside a small wooden box tells the story of a young woman named Rahil on her wedding night. The morning after, when she wakes up she finds herself inside a wooden box.

The short flick has already taken part in a number of global events, including the International Smyrna Movie Festival, where it grabbed the best director and best actor awards.

The PJIFF promotes “inclusion, diversity, and women empowerment”; educates people of all ages about filmmaking; and encourages everyone to “find their voice through film”, an online submission platform reads.

The 15th edition of the festival took place in early April in California.
